13-member medical board formed for Rony

A 13-member medical board has been formed for ‘Mirakkel’-famed Bangladeshi comedian Abu Hena Rony’s treatment. This was revealed to the press yesterday through a memorandum signed by the National Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr Samant Lal Sen.

The memo also stated that Director of the Burn Unit Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam has been made the head of the board with a total of 13 members on the board. The board held an urgent meeting regarding this issue on yesterday afternoon as Rony is still in critical condition.

Moreover, a probe body has been formed by Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) to investigate the gas balloon explosion that left Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others injured on Friday.

The four-member committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Abu Torab Shamsur Rahman was formed Friday night after the incident, said GMP Assistant Commissioner (Media) Abu Sayem Nayan.

The probe body has been asked to submit a report within three working days, he added.

On Friday evening, Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas baloon blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of GMP.

Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Rafiqul Islam said the injured – Rony, Mosharraf Hossain, Zillur Rahman, Imran Hossain and Rubel Hossain – had been rushed to the hospital.

Later, Rony, Mosharraf Hossain and Zillur were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.

Around 25% of the surface area and trachea of the comedian’s body was burnt, the physician added.

Rony was a big part of the popular Indian comedy show ‘Mirakkel.’

The platform’s participants, director, and producers have recently shared several posts praying for Rony’s quick recovery.

‘Mirakkel’ host Mir Afsar Ali asked for prayers for Roni on his verified Facebook page and wrote: “Abu Hena Rony is fire himself, who has the power to burn him? Pray for him.”

The director of the show, Subhankar Chattopadhyay wrote: “I have spoken to his manager. He said Rony’s condition was better than before. I wish him a speedy recovery.”

When Rony was a contestant on ‘Mirakkel,’ popular Indian actress Sreelekha Mitra (a judge at the show) adored the Bangladeshi stand-up comedian.

She also wrote on her social media that she wants Rony to get better quickly.

Abu Hena Rony won the Zee Bangla comedy show Mirakkel’s season 6 back in 2011.
