Popular Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony, who suffered major burn injuries during a gas balloon explosion at the anniversary programme of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police, has been taken out of the High Dependency Unit (HDU) and shifted to a cabin, and he is now out of the danger.

On Sunday, Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen told the press, “Rony was taken to the cabin from the HDU. His condition is much better now.”

Earlier yesterday, at 11:30 am, when Dr Sen spoke to the press again, he also said, “I saw him just a few minutes ago. Now, we can say that he is out of the danger and we no longer have to worry about him.”

In regard to Rony’s treatment, Dr Sen said, “We might have to keep him in the hospital for another two or three week.”

Other doctors at the hospital told media outlets that currently, Rony is being able to eat regular food and that his health was improving rapidly.

On September 16, Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas balloon blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).

They were later sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery as the severity of their burn injuries was much higher.

Around 25% of the surface area and trachea of the comedian’s body were burnt, according to his physicians.

Rony was a big part of the popular Indian comedy show ‘Mirakkel.’
