‘Bachelor Point’ removes ‘controversial’ episodes from YouTube

Kajal Arefin Ome’s popular comedy series ‘Bachelor Point’ has recently met with intense discussion and criticism on social media. Netizens pointed out obscene dialogues in a few episodes and demanded the creators should remove those.

In the face of objections, the authorities have removed the ‘controversial’ episodes from YouTube.

Episodes 74, 75, and 76 of the celebrated series’ fourth season have already been removed from the YouTube channel of ‘Bachelor Point’ production company Dhruba TV.

Dhruba TV authorities also gave a statement on their official Facebook page which states, “Our respected viewers have objected to some of the dialogues in the recently aired episode of ‘Bachelor Point Season Four’ and have been discussing and criticizing the issue on social media. This has come to our attention. Out of respect for our valued viewers, we have deleted the offending episodes aired on Bachelor Point Season Four from our platform.”

Promising to be more vigilant about promoting dramas in the future, the post continued, “In the future, we will be more careful in promoting our dramas; So that there is no adverse impact on our society and culture. The love of our audience is the main priority, and we want to move forward with this love.”

The backlash started after Pasha (played by popular actor Marzuk Russel) said a dialogue that featured the words- ‘Hey! son of a sex worker’. Yet, the famous comedy series has been criticised and dissected by local film critics and media personalities since its release. The recent backlash forced the creators to pull out the ‘controversial’ episodes from their YouTube channel.

The series stars Marzuk Russel, Ziaul Haque Palash, Mishu Sabbir, Shimul Sharma, Parsa Ivana, Faria Shahreen, Lamima Mim, and many more in central roles.
