Binge to release 10 new original content

Bangladeshi OTT platform Binge has announced that it will release ten brand new content on its streaming site. The announcement came on Thursday night at an event titled ‘Binge Gala Night’ at a hotel in the capital on the occasion of the platform’s second anniversary.

Veteran Bangladeshi actor and Member of Parliament Asaduzzaman Noor was present as the chief guest and the High Commissioner of Malaysia appointed to Bangladesh Haznah Md Hashim and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder were present as the special guests of the event. Riyaz Rashid, the acting CEO and CFO of Robi, the parent company of Binge, inaugurated the event with a welcome speech.

The event announced that ten brand new Binge original shows will be released soon. They are- ‘Shon Shon,’ ‘Made in Chittagong,’ ‘Maya Shalik,’ ‘Friday 18th June,’ ‘The Silence,’ ‘Muntasir,’ ‘Zero Watt,’ ‘Sadarghat Er Tiger 2,’ ‘Infinity 2’ and ‘Ogochore’. Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, Shihab Shaheen, Raihan Rafi, Imrul Rafat, Tanim Rahman Anshu, and several other budding directors will work with Binge in these upcoming original shows.

Bangladeshi celebs including Apurba, Afran Nisho, Mehzabien, Toya, Shamal Mawla, and Sariful Razz have already signed to star in these projects. At the end of the event, the top 14 most popular content released on Binge so far were awarded.

At the event, actor and MP Asaduzzaman Noor said, “If there was so much opportunity when we started acting, then we could have done a lot better. When we used to do TV dramas for BTV, we could not do more than one drama in three months. We were not professional artistes back then. We did acting alongside another profession which paid our bills.”

“Now those who have been able to take acting as their main career are very lucky. We had to limit ourselves to one television channel and numerous writers. That is not the case now. Our local OTT platforms have opened up many opportunities. Creating acting job opportunities for young actors,” he added.

Among the upcoming ten content, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s horror web film ‘Shon Shon’ is now available for streaming on Binge since Thursday night. The film is an adaptation of a true story from RJ Rusell’s popular horror show Bhoot.com and stars Afran Nisho in its lead role.
