Actor Jashim’s 24th death anniv today

Today marks the 24th death anniversary of Bangladeshi film actor Abul Khayer Jashim Uddin, commonly known by his stage name Jashim. 

Jashim made his debut with the film ‘Debor’. He was later the lead star in ‘Mokabela’. He was acclaimed for his work as an action director in the film ‘Rongbaaz’ in 1973. 

His notable films are – ‘Tufan’, ‘Jobab’, ‘Nag Nagini’, ‘Bodla’, ‘Barud,’ ‘Sundori’, ‘Kosai’, ‘Lalu Mastan’, ‘Nobabjada’, ‘Ovijan’, ‘Kaliya’, ‘Banglar Nayok’, ‘Goriber Ustad’, ‘Bhaibon’, ‘Mayerao Manush’, ‘Poribar’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Buker Dhon’, ‘Shami Keno Asami’, ‘Lal Golap’, ‘Dagi’, ‘Tiger’, ‘Habildar’, ‘Bhalobashar Ghor’, etc. 

Jashim first married actress Shuchorita. He later married Nasrin, daughter of Purnima Sengupta. The couple had three sons named Ratul, Rahul and Samee. All three of them are music people.

Jashim died from a brain haemorrhage on 8 October 1998. Jasim was also a freedom fighter in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. For his contribution, the second Floor of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation was named after his name as ‘Muktijuddha Jashim Floor’.
