Today is the first death anniversary of renowned Ekushey Padak winning actor Enamul Haque. To observe the day, a remembrance programme has been arranged at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on October 12.
There will be staging ‘Ekattor O Ekjon Nattokar’ (1971 and a Playwright) tomorrow at National Theatre Auditorium.
The play has been directed by his daughter Hridi Huq. ‘Ekattor O Ekjon Nattokar’ is a collage of three plays written by Enamul Haque. Theatre artistes of Nagarik Natya Sampradaya, Theatre, Prachyanat, Prangane Mor, Natyam, BotTala, Theatre Art Unit, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi and Enamul Haque’s own theatre troupe Nagorik Nattyangan. Before staging the play there will be songs and recitation of poems at the lobby of National Theatre Auditorium.
Later at 6:00pm Dhriti Nrityalaya will perform with which the main programme will start. After that a documentary made on Enamul Haque will be screened.
The whole programme will be emceed by Azad Abul Kalam. State Minister of Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, eminent theatre personalities Ramendu Majumdar, Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Golam Kuddus, Sara Zaker and others will be present at the event.
Enamul Haque was born on May 29, 1943. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2012 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to fine arts.
