An independent multidisciplinary miniature art project titled ‘Doob 2.0’ is currently taking place at the EMK Center in the capital. The exhibition concentrates on the presence of biodiversity in both artificial and wild dimensions of this metropolis of Dhaka.
Through a versatile range of traditional and contemporary mediums of art - a group of emerging artists seek to evoke empathy from their audience through this exhibition.
‘Doob 2.0’ is a way with which artists want to portray this riverine land that used to contain a large number of forests and water bodies. With numerous domestic and wild species gone or barely living in hostile conditions, there is still animal life in Dhaka, which most of the city seems to be quite unaware of or have an estranged relationship with. The often-felt acute nostalgia of human coexistence with nature has been reimagined with mythological elements, folklore and rituals in this event. The present existence and necessity of broader biodiversity have been narrated too by the means of metaphoric storytelling.
While Azizee Fawmi Khan is the initiator of this event the collaborator artists are, Afroza Hossain Sara, Afsana Haque Ayaan, Anannya Mehpar Azad, Arzina Ahasan, Auntora Mehrukh Azad, Joyshree Chakma, Mreethmandir Gunjan Kumar Roy, Mukta Mareeam Khan, Nusrat Jahan Titly, Rakibul Anwar, Sarah Jabin, Shaily Shrabonti, and Tania Rahman Roshney.
The event is open to all and will run till October 22. The exhibition will run every day from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm except for Fridays and national holidays.
