Popular Bangladeshi band Shironamhin is preparing to release an unplugged album. Kazy Ahmad Shafin, the drummer of Shironamhin, recently told several media outlets that they will start working on the upcoming album the next month.
Shafin told the press, “We recently celebrated our silver jubilee by organising a grand concert titled ‘The Only Headliner’ in collaboration with Symphony Orchestra. We plan to release our next album. We will start working on the album in the next month. We are hoping to include unplugged versions of eight Shironamhin songs in the upcoming album.”
“We released our latest album ‘Perfume’ in the form of a book. Our upcoming album will also be released in the form of a book, which will contain a QR code so that music lovers can easily watch the songs of the album on YouTube and also preserve it,” added Shafin.
Shironamhin comprises five members. The band’s frontman Ziaur Rahman writes most songs and composes music as well as plays bass, cello and sarod. Kazy Ahmad Shafin composes music, and plays drums, sarod and flute, Sheikh Ishtiaque is the vocalist, Symon Chowdhury is the keyboardist and Dipu Sinha is the lead guitarist.
Shironamhin was founded by BUET students Ziaur Rahman (guitar), Jewel (guitar) and Bulbul Hasan (vocals). Vocalist Tanzir Tuhin joined in 2002 as a fourth member of the band. Zia became the primary lyricist and thematic leader, devising the concepts behind the albums ‘Jahaji’ (2004), ‘Icche Ghuri’ (2006), ‘Bondho Janala’ (2009) and ‘Shironamhin Rabindranath’ (2010).
Their song ‘Hashimukh’ from their debut album became well recognised after its release. The band also composed several film scores.
Following personal tensions, Tanzir Tuhin left Shironamhin in 2017. Sheikh Ishtiaque later joined the band as a new vocalist.
Later they produced hit singles like ‘Jadukor’ (2017), ‘Boheimian’ (2018), ‘Barud Shomudro’ (2018), ‘Ei Obelay’ (2019), ‘Cafeteria Periye’ (2020) and ‘Kashfuler Shohor Dekha’ (2021).
