Month-long painting exhibition titled ‘The Work of Creation 2’ by Kazi Ghiyasuddin is now taking place at Bengal Foundation, Dhanmondi in the capital.

The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition was held at Bengal Shilpalay on October 28 at 5 pm. Presided by the Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva Nahid Choudhury, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen was present as the chief guest at the event. Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki and Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka Professor Nisar Hossain were present at the event.

“I will paint till I like painting. I paint to forget my sorrows and to feel happy. I’ve painted all the paintings with utmost care. My feelings and thoughts have been expressed through these paintings,” said Kazi Ghiyasuddin.

“I’m not an art critic or an artist, but I always appreciate Bangladeshi art. Kazi Ghiyasuddin is an artist who has been appreciated internationally in a short time. Not just on the basis of talent but he reached this position with hard work. His paintings are different from others, yet they are close to nature,” said Masud Bin Momen. The event ended by unveiling the catalogue.

The exhibition uses an array of media; watercolour on paper, oil paints on canvas and board, and collages.

According to the artist, the works in watercolour are inspired partly by the traditional Japanese art form of Nihonga, whereas the surface of the oil draws on the techniques of Bangladeshi Nakshikantha.

The curated clusters of artworks inside the gallery translate into curious designs which together with the snatches of dialogues they ensure make way for an attempt to bring Ghiyasuddin’s process of art-making to view.

The exhibition is open to all and will continue every day except Tuesday from 4 pm to 8 pm till November 28.
