‘Venom 3’ gets new director

After writing the screenplay for both ‘Venom’ and its sequel, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ Kelly Marcel is stepping up to the director role for the third film based on the Marvel anti-hero, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Deadline reports that sources close to the film’s production have confirmed Marcel is set to direct the movie. She will also serve as producer alongside Tom Hardy, who plays the main character, Eddie Brock, and the titular symbiote.

Sources say Hardy and Marcel have “always been on the same page” when it came to mapping out the story of Eddie and Venom, and agreed on the direction for the final chapter of the trilogy. Hardy seemingly confirmed the script for the third movie was completed back in June of this year.

Marcel will be the third director in three ‘Venom’ movies. The first film was directed by Ruben Fleischer who went on to direct the ‘Uncharted’ movie starring Tom Holland. The sequel, ‘Let There Be Carnage’, was directed by Andy Serkis.
