Dhallywood superstar Arifa Pervin Zaman, better known by her stage name Moushumi, will celebrate her birthday today. The three-time National Film Award-winning actress said that she has no special plans for her birthday and will be busy with a photoshoot.
Moushumi recently starred in a government-granted film, ‘Deshantor,’ directed by Ashutosh Sujan. The film is based on the partition period and adapted from a novel of the same name written by Ekushey Padak-winning poet and author Nirmalendu Goon. The film was supposed to be released a day after Moushumi’s birthday but has been rescheduled to November 11. The recently released trailer of the film has garnered a positive response from film aficionados.
‘Deshantor’ also stars Ahmed Rubel, Yash Rohan, Rodela Tapur, Mamunur Rashid, Subhashis Bhowmik, and Momena Chowdhury in central roles. Moushumi said that she loved her character in the film and is very hopeful about the film’s release and success.
While talking about her birthday, Moushumi said, “Whenever my birthday comes, I miss my father very much. To tell you the truth, my life was very different when my father was alive. Everything was under my father’s fingertip - what I am not doing, what I should do, what should be done, what should not be done - so many things. So at this stage of life, I miss my father more and more. On this birthday, even mom is not around.
“All in all, although there is pain or bad feelings within myself but seeing the faces of my two children, Fardin and Faizah, I forget that pain. They are my world and my happiness. As long as they are well, I will be well and at peace.
“And I have no special plans this birthday. I’ll be busy with a photoshoot in Dhanmondi today. After that, I’ll spend time with my family. Everyone please pray for me, and my family. Stay healthy wherever you are,” she continued.
Moushumi also starred in Mirza Sakhawat Hossain’s ‘Bhangon.’ The soon-to-be-released film also stars Rasheda Chowdhury, Pran Roy, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Khalilur Rahman Kaderi among others. She also recently completed the shooting of Zahid Hossain’s upcoming film ‘Sonar Chor.’
Moushumi began working as an actress and singer at an early age. She won the Ananda Bichittra Photo Beauty Contest, which led to her appearances in television commercials in the 1990s. She made her silver screen debut in the film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ opposite Dhallywood heartthrob Salman Shah.
She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for her roles in ‘Meghla Akash’ (2001), ‘Devdas’ (2013) and ‘Taarkata’ (2014).
She has acted in over 150 films and made her directorial debut with ‘Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti’ (2003).
In 1996, Moushumi took a break for six months from acting and announced her engagement to popular Dhallywood actor Omar Sani.
