Rony returns to shooting floor

After being hospitalised for one and a half months, Popular Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony has finally returned to the shooting floor, according to the recent Facebook status of the comedian.

Rony posted a status on his verified Facebook profile yesterday confirming his return to work. The comic posted a few photos at the Banglavision studio and wrote, “Some return to work after recovery and some return to work and recover. No one is supposed to understand this feeling except for the people close to me. Thank you Banglavision family. Here is to a good start.”

Rony was hosting a weekly talk show called ‘Tok Jhal Mishti’ on Banglavision before he suffered major burn injuries during a gas balloon explosion at the anniversary programme of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police back in Septmeber.

Due to his hospitalisation, the show was postponed for a while. The latest episode of his weekly show will feature musician Akhi Alamgir and Golam Kibria Tanvir as his guests.

‘Tok Jhal Mishti’ will again air regularly every Tuesday at 11.25pm on Banglavision.

Previously, on September 16, Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas balloon blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).

The injured had been rushed to the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.

Later, Rony and two others were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

They were later sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery as the severity of their burn injuries was much higher.

Around 25% of the surface area and trachea of the comedian’s body were burnt, according to his physicians. A medical board was formed to treat the comedian as soon and as efficiently as possible.

Rony was a big part of the popular Indian comedy show ‘Mirakkel.’

Abu Hena Rony won the Zee Bangla comedy show Mirakkel’s season 6 back in 2011.
