Double-show of ‘12 Angry Men’ today at BSA

Theatre troupe Open Space Theatre will stage two shows of its first production ‘12 Angry Men’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the city. The first staging will be at 5:30pm while the last show will start at 8 pm.

’12 Angry Men’ is a cult classic courtroom drama and M Arifur Rahman has directed the play for the evening.

’12 Angry Men’ is an adaptation of the 1957 American courtroom drama film 12 Angry Men directed by Sidney Lumet, which was adapted from a 1954 teleplay of the same name by Reginald Rose.

A 12-member jury is sent to begin deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 18-year-old man accused of the stabbing death of his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. The play explores many techniques of consensus-building and the difficulties encountered in the process, among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict.
