Today is the 15th death anniversary of poet-lyricist-singer-composer and journalist Sanjeeb Choudhury.
Born in Habiganj on December 25, 1964, Sanjeeb Choudhury and Bappa Mazumder formed the Dalchhut band in the ‘90s, which carved a niche for itself within a short time.
Sanjeeb was the composer in Dalchhut’s four albums namely, Ahh, Hridaypur, Akashchuri and Jochhnabihar and wrote and tuned many songs with his popular voice. Besides, he released the solo album Swapnabaji.
Songs rendered by Sanjeeb Choudhury includes ‘Ami Tomakei Bole debo’, ‘Sada Mayla Rangila Pale’, ‘Tomar Bhaj Kholo’, ‘Bioscope’, ‘Samdrasantan’, ‘Kingbadanti’, ‘Nishiddha’, ‘Nashto Shahare, Haoya’, ‘Katha Balbo Na’, ‘Hater Parash’, ‘Bhallagena’, ‘Nesha’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Bayash 27’, ‘Rickshaw’, ‘Chokh’, ‘Bhar Dupur’, ‘Guitar’, ‘Amake Andha Kore Diyechhilo’, ‘Gari Chale Na’, ‘Kon Mestari Nao Banaiche’, among others, are still popular among music lovers across the country.
Sanjeeb Choudhury studied at the mass communication and journalism department of Dhaka University and worked in a number of dailies, including Ajker Kagoj and Bhorer Kagoj.
Sanjeeb Choudhury died on November 19, 2007 at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka after a brain haemorrhage.
