On the occasion of 70th birthday of renowned musician and composer of the sub-continent Runa Laila which was observed on November 17, a birthday celebration programme was held at the ballroom of The Westin in the capital on November 20.
At the beginning of the programme eminent actor, producer, director and Runa Laila’s husband MA Alamgir congratulated Runa Laila. After that, Subarna Mustafa, Khurshid Alam, Rafiqul Alam, Abida Sultana, Kona Reza, Akhi Alamgir, Ferdous, Dhruba Guha, Asif Akbar expressed their feelings about Runa Laila one by one.
A video projection on Runa Laila made by Ovi Moinuddin was screened at the event. Later Runa Laila cut a cake sponsored by Swapnadhara in presence of Alamgir, Runa Laila’s brother Syed Ali Murad, Ferdous, Purnima, Runa Khan, Akhi Alamgir, Apee Karim, Dithi Anwar and other celebrities.
Organised by Madiha Marsiha advertising founded by Ovi Moinuddin, the programme was sponsored by Nagad and co-sponsored by Swapnadhara.
Regarding the celebration, Runa Laila said, “Ovi Moinuddin has been working silently for the past one year for this day. This beautiful event was completed with his single effort, my love and prayers to Ovi for this. Also thanks to Nagad and Swapnadhara. Thank you to all the artists who came. Thanks to all my musicians and singers who performed today. Thanks to my family members.”

Maruful Islam Jhalak, executive director of Nagad, said, “Runa Laila was the favourite singer of my parents. I never thought this day would come to me like this way as my parents are enjoying this programme.”
Managing director of Swapnadhara Mausudur Rashid said, “I just want to be with Runa Apa, nothing else.”
The main attraction of the programme was the live music performance of Runa Laila’s song sung by Akhi Alamgir, Asif Akbar, Kona, Nishita, Kishore, Apu Aman, Imran, Yousuf, Konal, Liza, and Jhilik.
