Radharman Cultural Complex will be built soon: KM Khalid

A three-day folk festival titled ‘Radharaman Lok Sangeet Utsab- 2022’ started on November 25 at the Bangla Academy, will end today. Mahbubul Alam Hanif MP will be present as the chief guest of the closing ceremony.

On the opening day of the festival which was organised by Radharaman Sangskriti Charcha Kendra, State Minister of Cultural Affairs, KM Khalid was present as the chief guest. The State Minister at the festival declared that as a part of a project titled ‘Building a cultural centre in the name of cultural personalities’ is under process through the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The project includes various cultural personalities including Radharaman Dutta, Shah Abdul Karim and Durbin Shah.

“There is a proverb that says - in a country where there is no appreciation of virtuosos; virtuosos are not born in that country. It is our moral responsibility and duty to respect the artists. Our new generation will learn from their lives and is inspired to move forward. The State Minister of Culture said that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is building cultural centres in different places of the country in the name of virtuosos in order to preserve the creations of cultural personalities and geniuses and to keep their memories alive,” said KM Khalid in his speech.

The State Minister also said that the DPP of the project has been completed and hopefully the project will be sent to the Planning Commission for final approval by December this year. After that, the construction of the Radharman Cultural Complex will start.

Around 100 folk singers and artistes from across the country are participating in the festival, which is also featuring discussions, dance recitals and others.

This year’s festival has been organised with the support of the cultural affairs ministry. The festival is sponsored by Huawei, Bank Asia Limited, Popular Life Insurance Company Ltd and Robi Axiata Limited.
