Batighar to stage ‘Urnajal’ at BSA

Theatre troupe Batighar will be staging their third production, ‘Urnajal’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The 30th staging of the play will start at 7:00pm.

The play has been written and directed by Bakar Bokul.

The play portrays the clash between religious bigotry and traditional values and shows how religion can be subjected to misinterpretation and be used to the benefit of extremist outfits by people with dishonest intentions.

The story of the play starts as Khaled returns to his village after completing his education abroad and builds a madrasa on a piece of land left behind by his father for a school. He then starts propagating extremism in the name of Islam and hatred against other belief systems. Under the shelter of religious doctrine, the cunning diplomacy of some miscreants started to enter the village.

The play casts, Muktonil, Saddam Rahman, Sanju Goswami, Moniruzzaman, Sonjoy Halder, and others.

The tickets are available for Tk 500, Tk 300, Tk 200, and Tk 100 each, depending on the seating arrangement.
