‘Rickshaw Girl’ expects national release by 2023

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury is now planning to release his internationally acclaimed film ‘Rickshaw Girl’ in Bangladesh. The film is now waiting for the censor certificate. Recently, ‘Rickshaw Girl’ was released on OTT platforms including Apple TV, Amazon, Hoopla, Kanopy, and Vudu. The makers are expecting that after receiving the censor certificate, they will be able to release the film by January 2023.

This inspiring film tackles issues surrounding women’s empowerment and gender equality. ‘Rickshaw Girl’ portrays the story of Naima, who wants to earn money for her poor family but finds that her artistic talent is useless in reality. When her father falls seriously ill, Naima feels compelled to leave her little hamlet for Dhaka. In the capital, she disguises herself as a boy and works as a rickshaw puller.

‘Rickshaw Girl’ features Novera Ahmed in the lead role. It also stars Naresh Bhuiyan, Allen Shubhro Gomes, Momena Chowdhury, and Champa.

The film has won accolades at film festivals throughout the world, including the Prescott Film Festival in the US and the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival in Germany.
