‘Hawa’ all set to release in India

Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s blockbuster film ‘Hawa’ is all set to have its release officially in India.

The film will be releasing in Kolkata and other West Bengal cities on December 16, and then on December 30, it will release across other provinces of India.

Sumon himself confirmed the news. Reliance Entertainment and CEPL will be distributors of the film in India. Earlier, ‘Hawa’ was screened in Nandan in Kolkata at the 4th Bangladesh Film Festival in late October. Movie enthusiasts in Kolkata poured into the city’s cultural hub on the first day of the fourth edition of the festival.

Previously, the film was released in Australia and New Zealand on August 13, and in the United States and Canada on September 2.

‘Hawa’ was released on July 29, had 23 theatres and 66 housefull shows across the country and broke all box office records after Beder Meye Josna. Bangladesh’s biggest multiplex chain, Star Cineplex’s website crashed when they began pre-sales on July 26.

According to recent reports, ‘Hawa’ grossed an estimated 16 crore taka. It earned approximately 2.035 crores in the United States and Canada until September 6, 2022, ranking it 27th on the US Top Chart.

On October 22, it was reported that the multiplexes in Bangladesh sold tickets for the film Hawa worth more than Tk 14 crore.

The film was shot in Cox’s Bazar and Saint Martin’s island for 40 consecutive days in October 2019. Jahin Faruk Amin, Sukarna Shahed Dhiman, and Mejbaur Rahman Sumon have written the script of the film based on the story and dialogue of Mejbaur Rahman Sumon.

The film was shot by Kamrul Hasan Khasru, edited by Sajal Alok and background music is done by Rashid Sharif Shoaib. Earlier, the poster of the film created hype on the internet due to its interesting design.

The film stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Shariful Islam Razz, Sumon Anowar, Shohel Mondol, Nasir Uddin Khan, Abdul Jabbar Chowdhury, Mahmud Hasan, and Bablu Bose in the main roles.
