Cultural arena set to celebrate Victory Day in style

The cultural arena of the country is set to celebrate the 52nd Victory Day today, paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country from the clutches of Pakistan occupation force in 1971.

Different socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions across the country will celebrate the day through special programmes and performances.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is celebrating the occasion through a day-long programme featuring discussion, recitation, plays, music and dance performances at the academy’s National Theatre Hall today.

Marking the Victory Day, Bangla Academy has organised a three-day programme titled ‘Bijoy Mela’. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the programme on Thursday morning at the Nazrul Mancha of Bangla Academy.

With the slogan, ‘Spardhay Tarabo Dheye Asa Joto Kalo’, cultural organisation Sammilita Sangskritik Jote has organised an eight-day ‘Bijay Utsab 2022’ at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital. Independence Award-winning actress Ferdausi Majumdar inaugurated the event on Tuesday. The programme features music shows, plays, dance recitals, solo and group recitations, performances of children’s organisations and others. Bijay Utsab 2022, is being held at nine venues in the capital including Central Shaheed Minar, Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi, Rayerbazar Killing Field, Mirpur Mukul Fouz Field, Dania Masud Mancha, Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka, Motijheel T &T Colony Field, Uttara Bangabandhu Mukta Mancha and Purbachal Joy Bangla Square.

Also, Channel i is organising a daylong fair ‘Oikko-Channel i Bijoy Mela 2022’ on the channel’s premises in the Tejgaon area today. The festival will feature music, short drama, poetry recitation, drawing and commemorative meeting.
