2 films on Liberation War released on Victory Day

Two films based on the story of the Liberation War were released on the occasion of Victory Day. The films are, ‘Joy Bangla’ directed by Kazi Hayat, and ‘Ekatorrer Ekkhondo Itihash’ directed by Mizanur Rahman Shamim.

The film ‘Joy Bangla’ was released in 16 halls, while Mizanur Rahman Shamim’s directorial film ‘Ekatorrer Ekkhondo Itihash’ was released in 7 theaters.

‘Joy Bangla’ is an adaptation of eminent author-academic Muntassir Mamoon’s novel of the same name. Marking Kazi Hayat’s 51st directorial venture, the film won government grants for the fiscal year 2020–21. The film stars Bappy Chowdhury and Zahara Mitu in the lead, along with Srabon Shah, Shirin Bokul, Nader Chowdhury, and many others.

‘Ekatorrer Ekkhondo Itihash’ casts Masum Parvez Rubel in the lead role. While talking about the release in such a small number of theatres director Mizanur Rahman Shamim said to the media that hall owners don’t have the interest to screen films on Liberation War as these types of content mostly fail to make business. However, he also said as he is a song of a freedom fighter, no matter if people watch his films or not but he will continue to make films on the Liberation War.
