The festival will start on January 25 and continue till February 5 in the Netherlands.
The website of IFFR has confirmed the news of the selection.
The filmmaker Reetu Sattar also shared the good news on her Facebook account. The post reads “Shabnam is officially selected at the International Film Festival Rotterdam - IFFR for the Ammodo Tiger Short Competition 2023.”
The filmmaker also thanked the cast, crew, and everyone who helped her to complete the film. She also plans to release the trailer of ‘Shabnam’ soon.
‘Shabnam’ is based on the historical conflict between Bangladesh and East Lancashire over the delicate Muslin, which was manufactured in Dhaka during the 17th and 18th centuries. The plot then shifts to the 20th-century migration of textile workers to Lancashire before turning to the present-day garment workers in the same Bangladeshi city. The film is co-presented by Lancashire Encounters and the British Textile Biennial.
