‘Kagoj’ hits theatre across the country

Romantic-thriller ‘Kagoj, The Paper’, starring Dhallywood actors Mamnun Hasan Emon and Airin Sultana, is releasing today.

Ali Zulfikar Zahedi’s directorial debut feature film, ‘Kagoj’ will be released in seven theatres across the nation.

However, by the end of the year, the film will also be screening at Blockbuster Cinemas and Star Cineplex in Basundhara City, the capital.

It has been noticed that the film lacks promotional campaigns. Regarding the campaigns, the director said, “It’s nothing like that. All of my cast and crew are always helping me make the film work in theatres. The film will show a different version of Emon. I can say one thing for sure there is no other film like this that has ever been made in the country before. I haven’t given the film to any houses to take over the promotional campaign. I’m distributing the film by myself”

Emon is not in the country at the moment, as he is in Thailand.

Apart from the strong storyline, the director claims that the film has excellent sound and colour grading.

“The film has a lot of layers packed with thrilling elements. The audience will be treated to romantic sequences as well as thriller scenes. There are many twists in the film. Even half an hour before the end, the audience will not be able to predict the turns. Even some directors from India who saw the film appreciated it” he added.

The director also talked about his next film which will be titled ‘Buddhimani’. “The film ‘Buddhimani’ will be based on a girl who is very intelligent and with which she tackles different situations. However, even there the audience will find a plot twist. The film will be totally different from ‘Kagoj’ and will be repeatable too,” said Zulfikar Zahedi.

The plot of the film ‘Kagoj’ revolves around Mamnun Hasan Emon who’s in the recycled paper business but secretly wants to become a famous writer.

As the film progresses, faced with writer’s block, Emon stumbles on an old book in which he finds a comment that reads, ‘If you’re struggling to put your thoughts down on paper, go back to where you started.’

Decided on following that advice, he returns to his village after 16 years and meets the person who had inspired his love of writing he was young. The writer later falls in love with Renu (played by Airin) before the film takes an unexpected turn.

The film also stars Shahiduzzaman Selim, Shashi Afroza, Moon, Ashraf Kabir, Farhan Khan Rio, Yuvraj, Maimuna Momo and Elena Shammi in various roles.

The film will be released in Lion Cinemas in Keraniganj, Silver Screen and Sugandha Cinema Hall in Chattogram, Momo Inn in Bogra, Roots Inn Club in Shirajganj, Modern Cinema Hall in Dinajpur, and Sangita Cinema in Khulna.
