Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s highly acclaimed debut feature film ‘Hawa’ failed to make room on the shortlist for nomination in the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 95th Oscar.
The Oscar Committee Bangladesh picked ‘Hawa’ as its nomination for the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday unveiled its shortlists for the 2023 Oscars in 10 categories.
Fifteen international features advanced, out of the films from 92 countries and regions that were eligible this year. According to that, the films that got nominations for International Features, are, ‘Argentina, 1985’ from Argentina, ‘Corsage’ from Austria, ‘Close’ from Belgium, ‘Return to Seoul’ from Cambodia, ‘Holy Spider’ from Denmark, ‘Saint-Omer’ from France, ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ from Germany, ‘Last Film Show’ from India, ‘The Quiet Girl’ from Ireland, ‘Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ from Mexico, ‘The Blue Caftan’ from Morocco, ‘Joyland’ from Pakistan, ‘EO’ from Poland, ‘Decision to Leave’ from South Korea, and ‘Cairo Conspiracy’ from Sweden.
Nominations voting will run from January 12 to 17, and the final nominations will be announced on January 24.
