Ilyas Kanchan to celebrate birthday as BFAA president

Today is the birthday of actor, producer, and director Ilyas Kanchan. Today is his first birthday after becoming the president of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association. Though Ilyas Kanchan has no interest in his birthday, but the association may have. So he will go to the Samity in the evening. But before that, Ilyas Kanchan will participate in a seminar organised on tourism at 3 pm.

Regarding his birthday Ilyas Kanchan said, “Honestly, I don’t celebrate my birthday or cut cake on this day. A million thanks to Allah that I came to earth on this day. He gave me a beautiful life. I have reached today’s position with my hard work. Everything is the infinite mercy of Allah. As usual, I will attend a seminar today. Then I will go to the Samity. If someone comes with cake and cuts the cake, I have nothing to say. I want prayers and love from everyone.”

Kanchan debuted his acting career in 1977 through his performance in the film ‘Bashundhora’ directed by Subhash Dutta. He appeared in more than 350 films. Champa, Diti, and Anju Ghosh were the co-actors opposite Kanchan as heroines.

Ilyas Kanchan jointly produced the films ‘Sorporani’ and ‘Boner Moto Bon’ and then he produced the film ‘Badsha Bhai’, ‘Matir Kasam’, ‘Khuni Asami’, Bod Surat’, ‘Banchar Larai’ and ‘Munna Mastan’. He also directed the films ‘Baba Amar Baba’ and ‘Mayer Swapna’. He earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film ‘Parineeta’ in 1986. 

He established a social movement Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Road). In 2017, the Government of Bangladesh declared October 22 as National Road Safety Day.
