To celebrate the 58th birth anniversary of late renowned singer, songwriter and journalist Sanjeeb Choudhury, the 11th edition of a memorial concert titled ‘Sanjeeb Utsab 2022’ will be held today at the Sanjeeb Chattor of Teachers’ and Students’ Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU) campus in the capital.
Sanjeeb Utsab Parishad is organising the musical evening in association with Dhaka University Cultural Society, Band Society and Ajob Karkhana. The participating artists and bands are- Limon, Labik Kamal Gaurob, Joy Shahriar, Armeen Musa, Bangla Five, Sondhi, Shaik Salekin, Shuvro, Riad Hasan, Sahos Mostafiz, Suhriodo Swagato, Durgo, Orgho, Rafsan, Lisan, Polash, and Pizu.
Sanjeeb Choudhury was one of the founding members of the renowned band ‘Dolchhut’, which was formed in 1996.
During the Ershad government in the 1990s, Sanjeeb was constantly at the forefront of public processions. He donated his body to the Dhaka Medical College Anatomy Department for research.
Sanjeeb is known for his songs like ‘Ami Tomakei Bole Dibo’, ‘Amake Ondho Kore Diyechilo Chad’, ‘Gari Cholena’, ‘Bioscope’, ‘Somudrosontan’, ‘Tomar Vaj Kholo’.
He died of a bilateral cerebral ischemic stroke on November 19, 2006.
