Five popular Bangladeshi web series of 2022

During the whole pandemic period, the majority of the audience started to seek entertainment on OTT platforms. Thus, from then on, the popularity of OTT platforms began to widen. The OTT contents, especially Bangladeshi web series, started to create hype from then on, and now the industry has started to produce good content simultaneously. As the year 2022 is about to come to an end, The Business Post is going to give a short review of web content that left a mark on the hearts of the audience.

Pett Kata Shaw:

The series, directed by Nuhash Humayun, was the first ever horror content from Bangladesh, based on folk tales from various regions of the country. The anthology series was released on the popular OTT platform Chorki. Sohail Mondal, Shirin Akter Shila, Afzal Hossain, Chanchal Chowdhury, Pritom Hasan and Novera Rahman acted in the lead roles. The series has made it to its international premiere as part of the official selection at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2023.

Karagar:

Directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki, Karagar is a thriller that was released on the OTT platform Hoichoi on August 19. The series also released its second instalment this December. Featuring Chanchal Chowdhury as the mysterious prisoner of Cell 145, the series casts Intekhab Dinar, Tasnia Farin and FS Nayeem in the lead roles. Even the popularity of this Bangladeshi series spread beyond the country to India.

Syndicate

Featuring Afran Nisho ‘Syndicate’ is a romantic thriller released on Chorki. Directed by Shihab Shaheen the series stars Afran Nisho, Nazifa Tushi and Tasnia Farin in the lead roles. With each artiste’s incredible acting and dialogue, the series reached the pinnacle of audience popularity. The series ‘Syndicate’ created a new record for streaming for Chorki too.

Kaiser

The detective series ‘Kaiser’ stars Afran Nisho as Kaiser Chowdhury who is a homicide detective. Being a policeman by profession, this detective is addicted to video games and gets scared whenever he sees blood. Directed by Tanim Noor the series casts Mostafizur Noor Imran, Ahmed Reza Rubel, Nader Chowdhury, Reekita Nondine Shimu, Shahed Ali, Shatabdi Wadud, Sumon Anowar, Deepanwita Martin, Imtiaz Barshon, Naziba Basher, among others.

Bodh

Directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury web series ‘Bodh’ was released on November 4 on the OTT platform Hoichoi. The series is based on a grim past that haunts a retired judge. When his daughter reopens his old cases in a bid to help her father, the duo face the brutalities of a crippling legal system. It stars Afzal Hossain, Runa Khan, Sarah Alam, Shahjahan Shamrat, Khairul Basar, Rawnak Hasan, Orchita Sporshia and others.
