Momtaz to organise ‘Madhur Mela’

Three-day long ‘Madhur Mela’ initiated by Momtaz Begum, will start on January 1. The 22nd season of the festival will be taking place at the Joymandap Baul Complex of Singair in Manikganj.

“The folk songs and handicraft items that have been our cultural assets for thousands of years are getting distracted with time. It is absolutely necessary to cherish our traditions by keeping our cultural heritage in our hearts. From there, I organised the festival in memory of my late father, baul sadhak Alhaj Modhu Boyati, as I do every year. I believe that everyone’s presence at the festival will make this small arrangement of mine very worthwhile. Like every year, we hope that the ‘Madhur Mela’ will be successful in terms of colours. My sincere gratitude, and love to everyone involved in this event,” said Momtaz Begum.

Member of Parliament Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury will be present on the opening day of the festival which will start at 3:00pm.

Latif Sarkar and Mukta Sarkar will be performing for the whole night starting at 10:00pm on the opening day. On the second day of the festival, Manik Dewan and Ruma Sarkar will take the stage for the whole night.

On the closing day on December 3, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque will be present as the chief guest of the event. Suman Sarkar, a well-known singer from Kolkata, and Bikash Sarkar are scheduled to perform that night.

Momtaz is scheduled to perform on December 27 at a National University.
