Jyoti, Swakrito get ‘Rabeya Khatun Sahitya Purashkar’

Jyoti Prakash and Swakrito Noman received the ‘Rabeya Khatun Sahitya Purashkar’ this year. The writers were awarded by the Bangla Academy on December 27. This is the first time on the birth anniversary of Rabeya Khatun, Bangla Academy is introducing ‘Rabeya Khatun Sahitya Purashkar’. According to AHM Lokman, secretary of the Bangla Academy, the award will be given every year from now on.

Writer Jyoti Prakash, who bagged the honour for a short story, received Tk 2 lakh, while Swakrito Noman who was awarded for the novel, received Tk 1 lakh. Both the writers received crests and certificates at the event.

Director General of Bangla Academy Mohammad Nurul Huda, President of Bangla Academy Selina Hossain, President of Rabeya Khatun Smriti Parishad Faridur Reza Sagar, and Secretary of Bangla Academy AHM Lokman and others were present at the event.

The family of late novelist Rabeya Khatun are bearing expenses of the award from the Rabeya Khatun Smriti Parishad fund. On the same day, the birth anniversary of the late novelist was celebrated at Channel i Bhaban where they distributed food and blankets on behalf of Chhotokaku Club.
