Kazi Hayat, Shahin Sumon elected BFDA president, gen secy

Renowned filmmakers Kazi Hayat and Shahin Sumon have been elected as the new president and general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association, for the term 2023-2024.

The biennial general election of the Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association took place on Friday at BFDC.

Kazi Hayat-Shahin Sumon’s panel won the general election against Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar-Zakir Hossain Raju panel.

Kazi Hayat received a total of 142 votes, defeating his nearest opponent Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar who got 138 votes.

Shahin Sumon has been elected with 160 votes, defeating his nearest opponent Zakir Hossain Razu, who got 102 votes.

The other elected members include Chatku Ahmed (Vice President), Kabirul Islam Rana (Deputy Secretary General), Selim Azam (Treasurer),Shahin Kabir Tutul (Organizational Secretary), Noor Mohammad Moni (Information Technology Secretary), Abdur Rahim Babu (Cultural and Action Secretary), Wazed Ali Bablu (Promotion Publications and Bureau).

Executive members include Mostafizur Rahman Manik, Maria Afrin Tusar, Habibur Rahman Habib, SD Rubel, Bazlur Rashed, Palli Malek, Iftekhar Jahan, Shahadat Hossain Liton, and Sohanur Rahman Sohan.
