‘Forest Gump’ actor Tom hanks is playing role of Otto in the film ‘A Man Called Otto’. The story of Otto Anderson ,a grumpy widower struggling to come to terms with the recent death of his wife Sonya, who was the love of his life. When a lively young family moves in next door, he meets his match in quick-witted and very pregnant Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that will turn his world upside-down.

Otto is a stickler for rules and routines, and he takes great pride in maintaining the order and cleanliness of his community. Despite his gruff exterior, Otto is a kind and compassionate man who is often misunderstood by those around him.

He is frequently at odds with his quirky neighbours, including a young family, a boisterous cat. Despite facing his own struggles and setbacks, Otto finds solace and purpose in helping others and rediscovering his love of life. In the end, Otto learns to let go of his grief and embrace the joys of living in the present moment.

This movie is a Hollywood remake of the Swedish film ‘A Man Called Ove’ based on the 2012 novel of Fredrik Backman.

On December 30, 2022, a limited theatrical run of A Man Called Otto began. During its first three-day weekend, it made $60,000, a $15k per screen average at four cinemas in Los Angeles and New York. Sony Pictures will hold a broad release in the United States on January 13, 2023. Date of global release is not yet announced.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 68% of 54 critics’ reviews are positive.
