Curtain falls on ‘Bengal Stream’ today

The exhibition ‘Bengal Stream: The Vibrant Architecture Scene of Bangladesh’ will end today. The show includes a total of 60 projects by Bangladeshi architects.

Started on December 9 at Bengal Shilpalay, the exhibition had M A Mannan, Honorable Minister of Planning, Government of Bangladesh, inaugurate it as the chief guest, while Nathalie Chuard, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh and Member of Parliament, Asaduzzaman Noor, were also present as special guests at the event.

Bengal Stream has been curated by Niklaus Graber, Andreas Ruby and Viviane Ehrensberger.

The goal of the exhibition is to introduce the public to Bangladesh’s built spaces, both rural and urban. The exhibition conveys basic knowledge about the country and its architectural history: past and present. Richly illustrated, it provides an understanding of the cultural origins of the local architecture.

The Swiss Architecture Museum, in collaboration with the Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes, and Settlements, Dhaka, has produced the show.

Initially launched in Basel, Switzerland, in December 2017, the exhibition travelled to Arc en Rêve, Centre d’architecture, Bordeaux, France, and then to its third destination, the Deutsches ArchitekturMuseum, Frankfurt, Germany. Finally, after five years, it returned to Dhaka.

The exhibition is open to all between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
