Natyam Repertory to stage ‘Damer Madar’ today

Theatre troupe Natyam Repertory will stage the 60th show of its play ‘Damer Madar’ today at 7:00 pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital.

The play has been written by Sadhana Ahmed and directed by Irin Pervin Lopa. The play shows the community’s various dilemmas on the way of individual love and collective survival.

The play is based on an ancient Bangla folk narrative. Folk narratives are most enriched tradition of Bengal for thousands of years. Those narratives are mainly flourishing through oral text. The narrative of ‘Madar Pir’ is one of those narratives, which is originated from Muslim myth and has been recited different parts of this land for years among the devotees of ‘Madar Pir’.

Sadhana Ahmed is the playwright while Irin Pervin Lopa is the director and Junaid Eusuf is the artistic director.
