Rubel bags Best Actor award at Jaipur fest

Bangladeshi actor Ahmed Rubel won the ‘Best Actor’ award, under the ‘Feature Film’ category, at the 15th Jaipur International Film Festival 2023 (JIFF). He was nominated for his role in the film, ‘Priyo Satyajit’.

Not only that, the film directed by Proshoon Rahmaan, also received the ‘Best Cinematography’ award and the ‘Best Sound and Edit’ award under the same category.

The film was produced as a tribute to the legendary director, Satyajit Ray, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary.

The film made its international premiere at the South Asian Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada, around November 2022. After that, the film was screened multiple times at various festivals across the world.

The story of ‘Priyo Satyajit’ revolves around making a film about Satyajit Ray. In the film – Aparajita – an emerging filmmaker wants to make a documentary paying homage to the memory of Ray on his birthday.

The film casts Moutushi Biswas, Pankaj Majumder, Saeed Babu, Sangeeta Chowdhury, Labonno Chowdhury, Ehsanul Haque, Nusrat Jahan and Abir.
