‘Global Friendship Art Festival India 2023’ underway in Shantiniketan

A five-day ‘Global Friendship Art Festival India 2023’ is underway at Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal.  To extend the bond between Bangladesh and India, the Bangladesh Artist Group has organised the festival which began on January 9.

The festival showcases 104 paintings and 12 sculptures by 65 artists from 12 countries.

Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Andalib Elias inaugurated the art festival in Kolkata on Monday, by lighting up ‘Nandan Chitrashala Mangal Pradip’ of Kalabhaban.

Presided by Bangladesh Artist Group president Saiful Islam, the former principal of Visva Bharati University Kalabhavan and renowned artist Dr Janak Jhankar Narzary, along with famous artists of Bangladesh K M A Quayyum and Nasima Masud Ruby was present at the inaugural ceremony as special guests. In the opening ceremony, the high commissioner of Bangladesh handed over memorials to the artists of Bangladesh and India.

The exhibition will be open to all from 10 am to 5 pm daily till January 13.
