A solo exhibition of artist Mustafa Zaman on drawings and constructions titled ‘Noncelestial Optics’ is now taking place at Shunno Art Space.
The first part of the exhibition show was inaugrated by Notable writer and theorist Hasnat Abdul Hye and eminent artist and cartoonist Rafiqun Nabi on January 6 at 7:00 pm. This segment of the show will end on January 14.
Most of the artworks are small as they have been torn out of sketchbooks of the artist, who has created the drawings during the emergence of Covid-19 period. Besides, the exhibition is featuring a large mural titled The Juggler amid the Chaos. Mustafa Zaman has drawn human figures and shapes with tea stains at the centre in many of his artworks.
The figures on the exhibition portray the thoughts of the artist. He has drawn humans as beings of flesh and blood. Artist Mustafa Zaman has highlighted shortcomings of human nature and their impact on the world drawing disconnected limbs closely following behind human bodies. These breaches speak for themselves. They mirror the worldly chaos, thereby pushing the human body to the edge of ‘nowhere’ and far from the erstwhile places it used to occupy.
However, the second phase will be inaugurated on January 16 at 7:00 pm. Notable painter-printmaker Monirul Islam, eminent sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan and renowned painter-printmaker Rokeya Sultana will be present and they will together inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition will end on January 21. This part of the exhibition will feature digitally developed works of the artist where drawing will still be the main element.
The show is open to all.
