Aupee Karim’s ‘Mayar Jonjal’ set to release in February

Bangladesh-India joint production ‘Mayar Jonjal (Debris of Desire)’ starring Aupee Karim is set to hit theatres in Bangladesh and India next month.

With this film Aupee Karim is returning to the silver screen after 15 years.

Directed by Indranil Roychowdhury, the film has been produced by Bangladeshi producer Josim Ahmed.

Apart from Aupee the film also casts, Ritwick Chakraborty, Shohel Mondal, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Bratya Basu.

The story of the film revolves around a petty criminal, who loves a sex worker and wants to run away with her savings, meets a laid-off factory worker who is desperate to stop his wife from working as a housemaid.

‘Mayar Janjal’ had its world premiere at International Film Festival in China in 2020. In the same year, the film was invited to the Asian Perspectives category at the 15th edition of the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia. The film also won the Best South Asian Feature Film award at the Arthouse Asia Film Festival.
