In memory of the noted thespian, Ishrat Nishat a new award-giving ceremony titled ‘Ishrat Nishat Natya Puraskar’ will be taking place today at 6:30 pm. The event will be at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will be present as the chief guest for the evening while the ceremony will be presided over by Ferdousi Mazumder.
A theatre play titled ‘Jolbasor’ is also set to be staged on Friday at 6:30 pm. ‘Jolbasor’ is the last play acted and directed by noted thespian Ishrat Nishat. The plays ‘Jolbasor’ will make the audience think about are people actually destroying themselves by destroying nature. The award will be given annually, in eight categories.
The jury board consisting of the country’s renowned theatre personalities has already completed the evaluation for the first batch of awards by watching 17 new plays, staged between 2021 and 2022.
Winners of the award will be announced on January 19. The awards will also contain a financial honorarium between BDT 25,000-BDT 1 lakh each.
