Nayak Raj Razzak’s 81st birth anniv to be observed today

It is been more than five years since Nayak Raj Razzak is no more. Today is the 81st birth anniversary of the legendary actor.

To mark the day in a befitting manner, his family and some cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes across the country that include Milad-Mahfil, food distribution among orphans, discussion, and a lot more. Some close friends and family will meet in the evening to refresh the memories of Nayak Raj Razzak.

Razzak’s youngest son, Khalid Hossain Samrat told the media, “To be honest, it feels nice that my father is still alive in the hearts of many. People love my father, and this is something I know as many talk about him and share his memories to date. This makes me proud as his son. We intend to commemorate his birthday by holding a discussion about him and praying for his departed soul. May the Almighty grant him peace.”

Samrat visited his father’s grave after the Fajr prayers today and will be distributing food for the orphans at Gulshan Azad Masque at noon. There will also be a Milad mahfil in the evening.

Celebrating the occasion, Channel i plans to feature a three-day long event, airing the legend’s famed films and works. Beginning on January 22, the programme will continue till January 24.

The channel will air ‘Abhijan’ (1984) today. Following that, a special program titled ‘Antaranga Babita’ will air at 12:05 pm where actress Babita will share some of her memories with the legendary actor Razzak.

The ‘Taroka Kathon’ will have Razzak’s son Samrat today. Samrat will share memories regarding his father with noted actor Syed Hasan Imam on the show. The show will air at 12:30 pm today on Channel i.

Razzak’s directorial film ‘Ayna Kahini’ will be appearing tomorrow at 3:30 pm.

Born in Nagtola in Taliganj of Kolkata, Nayak Raj Razzak acted in different characters in the Kolkata-based film industry before migrating to Dhaka in 1964. He got his first break as an actor through Zahir Raihan’s Behula in 1966 and never looked back. In his long and eventful career, Razzak acted in more than 300 films.

Some of his notable works are ‘Neel Akasher Nichey’, ‘Maynamati’, ‘Osru Diye Likha’, ‘Jibon Theke Neya’, ‘Obujh Mon’, ‘Moner Moto Bou’, ‘Abirbhab’, ‘Bashori’, ‘Etotuku Asha’, ‘Je Agune Puri’, ‘Moinamothi’, ‘Dwip Neva Nai’, ‘Sharalipi’, ‘Ashikkhit’, ‘Chutir Ghanta’ and more.

He was awarded the Independence Award in 2015. He also received numerous awards in his career, including National Film Awards in 1976, 1978, 1982, 1984, and 1988. He was also awarded Indo-Bangla Kala Music Award in 2003, Bachsas Life Time Achievement in 2009, and others.
