I’m singing to keep the industry alive: Kumar Bishwajit

Kumar Bishwajit is considered an evergreen singer-musician in the country. The singer is passing the time by performing stage shows across the country.

He will be busy attending concerts and live shows till March. The singer has worked in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry for more than four decades. Several events will be arranged to celebrate Kumar Bishwajit’s four-decade career and the schedule will be announced soon.

“We usually add the word ‘legendary’ before the names of the prominent cultural personalities of this country who have passed away. Those of us, who are alive and have worked long enough to reach a position, have made a name for ourselves through our work, and I think they should be addressed as ‘Living Legends’. This word should be a common word for use as an adjective,” said Kumar Bishwajit.

In his long career, there were times he got frustrated, and sometimes he also gets tired of performing on stage shows.

“Yet the living legend continues to work for the industry so that he can cheer us all up. “I’ve got frustrated many times as artistes neither have personal space nor personal life. Now, I want to give my time to my family, want to be attached to them more. I’m working to keep the industry cheered up and alive. I’m working for the people associated with music and the industry, the musicians, and to inspire the newcomers. For that, I’m still doing stage shows and making music. There is no denying that a live stage performance requires a lot of effort and preparation. At this age, I don’t feel like taking that pressure on myself,” said the musician.

Kumar Bishwajit will be performing live in Dhaka on January 27. Later, he is scheduled to attend a show in Cumilla.

Earlier, he performed in Cox’s Bazar on Friday. On Saturday, he attended another event at the Gulshan Club in the capital.

The living legend came into the limelight when he sang ‘Tore Putuler Moto Kore Sajiye’ in 1982.  Since then he has been advancing his music career while maintaining his popularity and never had to look back. The year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the song ‘Tore Putuler Moto Kore Sajiye’. To mark the occasion Kumar Bishjit will sing 10 of his popular songs but on new tunes.
