Theatre 52 to stage ‘Kalidas’ tomorrow at BSA

Theatre troupe Theatre 52 will stage their 5th production, ‘Kalidash’ tomorrow at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The staging will start at 7:30pm.

Jayita Mahalanobish directed the play written by Apurba Kumar Kundu. The story of the play is based on the life of the renowned Indian classical Sanskrit poet Kalidas.

The story of the play continues with Kalidas, a boy who grew up in an orphanage. After one of the teachers beats him, Kalidas runs away from the orphanage. He climbs up a tree, sits on a branch, and starts cutting it.

Few wise men who were looking for a great fool noticed him. They get him to marry the princess, who, on realising that she has been cheated on, leaves Kalidas. Despite every oddity, he went on to become one of the greatest poets of all time.
