Aranyak stages ‘Moyur Singhashon’ today

Theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal will stage its acclaimed production ‘Mayur Singhasan’ this evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital, as a part of the golden jubilee celebration of the troupe.

Written by Mannan Hira, the play ‘Mayur Singhasan’ is directed by Shah Alam Dulal. This is the 32nd production of the troupe.

‘Moyur Singhashon’ is a play that speaks out against oppression and advocates for religious and faith harmony in general. It is based on the context of the nationalist movements of the 1960s.

The play revolves around a rural Jatra troupe, which is all set to stage its latest production Dwijendralal Ray’s ‘Shahjahan’. However, a problem surrounding the heroine arises that who is going to portray the role. On the other hand, a talented but overconfident actor Dilip will be playing the titular role of Shahjahan. Although he is a brilliant actor, Dilip has some enemies who want him to leave the country in order to snatch his property. Now, saving himself and his belongings, he declines to play his role at the last moment just before the show.

The probable cast of the play includes Mamunur Rashid, Mannan Hira, Tamalika Karmakar, Tajin Ahmed, Amanul Haque Helal, and Parimal Majumdar, among others.
