‘Kali O Kalam Young Poet and Writer Award’ handed over

The Kali o Kalam Tarun Kabi o Lekhak Puraskar 2022 (Kali O Kalam Young Poet and Writer Award 2022) was handed over to 4 young writers on Saturday evening. The recipients of ‘IFIC Bank Presents Kali O Kalam Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar 2022’ are Kabeer Kallol for the book ‘Sondeho Hobe Na Keno’ in the poetry category, Masud Ahmad for ‘Dur Prithiibir Gondhe’ in the literature category, Nibedita Roy for ‘Kaibarta Jatibarner itihas’ in research category and Mahhfuz Rahmaan for ‘Kong Paharer Shoitan’ in children’s literature.

Kali O Kalam, a monthly magazine on literature, art and culture, has been awarding ‘Kali O Kalam Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar’’ to young literature enthusiasts of Bangladesh since 2008. Like the last 2 years, IFIC is sponsoring this year’s Kali O Kalam Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar (Young Poets and Writers Award).

On the occasion of Kali O Kalam award ceremony, a two-day programme has been arranged at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi of the capital. On the opening day of the programme on January 26, a discussion and recitation programme titled ‘Kabita O Kathan’ was held where previously honoured writers and poets took part.

The prestigious ‘Kali O Kalam Tarun Kabi O Lekhak Purushkar 2022’ conferred on January 28 at an award ceremony at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi of the capital. Prominent artist Hashem Khan was present as the chief guest of the festival. Presided over by Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, Imdadul Haq Milan, Abul Momen, and Khaled Hossain were attended the event too.

One of the most acclaimed plays, ‘Kohe Birangana’ was staged in the second segment of the event. Kohe Birangana is a theatrical adaptation of Michael Madhusudan Dutt’s Birangona Kabya. The play has been adapted and directed by Shubhashish Sinha.
