Mim to star in ‘Ami Yasmin Bolchi’

After the success of ‘Poran’, popular actress Bidya Sinha Saha Mim is going to act in a new film ‘Ami Yasmin Bolchi’ which is also inspired by a true event like Raihan Rafi’s ‘Poran’.

Bidya Sinha Saha Mim has already been signed up for the film ‘Ami Yasmin Bolchi’ directed by Sumon Dhar. Mim is set to play the lead role in this film.

Regarding acting in the film, Mim said, “I have received many offers after the success of ‘Poran’. I am trying to choose projects wisely. All I can say is that the story is so touching and tragic at the same time. My eyes were in tears after I read the script of this film. This is why I chose this film.”

The story of the film is based on the unforgivable 14-year-old Yasmin Akhtar gang-rape and murder case in 1995. After the incident, thousands of people in Dinajpur took to the streets and laid siege to Kotwali police station, demanding punishment for the policemen behind the brutal act. In a bid to disperse the outraged crowds, police indiscriminately opened fire, which killed seven innocent people and injured over 300 others.

The shooting is expected to start in April. It will take place in Dinajpur and Dhaka.

Mim is now busy shooting for the new film ‘Manush’ in Kolkata. The film will have popular Tollywood actor Jeet opposite Mim. Directed by Sanjay Samaddar, Mim will play the role of a police officer named ‘Mandira’.

Her film ‘Poran’ became a major box-office success last year. After that, her film ‘Damal’ also received a great response from the audience. At this time, Mim’s films ‘Ittefaq’ and ‘Antarjal’ are in the pipeline for release.

Model and actress Mim started her career by winning the crown of Lux Channel i Superstar in 2007. After her beauty pageant win, she made her film debut as the lead cast of Humayun Ahmed’s feature film ‘Amar Ache Jol’. That role kick-started her career as an actor and she starred in several hit TV dramas in the same year.

The very next year, she played the role of Priyanka alongside Shakib Khan in her second film, ‘Amar Praner Priya’ directed by Zakir Hossain Raju. She won the first National Film Award for the film ‘Jonakir Alo’.
