Bangladesh-India joint production ‘Mayar Jonjal’ (Debris of Desire) starring Aupee Karim, is set to hit theatres in Bangladesh and India on February 24. With this film, Aupee Karim is returning to the silver screen after 15 years.
Directed by Indranil Roychowdhury, the film has been produced by Bangladeshi producer Josim Ahmed. Apart from Aupee the film also casts, Ritwick Chakraborty, Shohel Mondal, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Bratya Basu.
The trailer of the Indo-Bangladesh joint venture was released recently at the International Kolkata Book Fair and the short video clip promises to deliver an intense uncompromising stand against the decaying society, and soon after, the director released it on Facebook.
The story of the film revolves around a petty criminal, who loves a sex worker and wants to run away with her savings, meets a laid-off factory worker who is desperate to stop his wife from working as a housemaid.
According to the director, there is an underlying sense of destruction in the film. The film also heavily expresses how people don’t know what to do with each other. They can’t love no matter how much they want to. They can’t rely on someone when they need to. They are in a constant state of mentally tormenting themselves. Most characters in the film are like this. That is where the title came from.
