2 shows of ‘And Then There Were None’ at Mahila Samity today

Theatre troupe Open Space will stage two consecutive shows of its second theatre production titled ‘And Then There Were None’, at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, Baily road in the capital. The 13th show will be stage at 4:00 pm, while 14th show will be staged at 7:00 pm at the same venue.

The play has been adapted from Agatha Christie’s best-selling crime novel of the same name. The play is translated and directed by M Arifur Rahman.

Seven guests, a newly hired personal secretary, and two staff, are gathered for a weekend on an isolated island by the hosts, the Owens, who are delayed. At dinner, a record is played and the host’s message alleges that all the people present are guilty of murder. They discover that none of them actually know the Owens, and Justice Wargrave concludes, that the name ‘UN Owen’ is a play on the word ‘Unknown’.

Ashiq Rahman Leeon designed the set and lighting for the play, while Mahjabeen designed the costumes.
