‘Radio’ gets uncut censor clearance

The Bangladesh Film Censor Board has given an uncut clearance certificate to Anonno Mamun’s film ‘Radio’ on February 16. The film has been made based on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 7th March Speech. The film is expected to be released on March 10, director Anonno Mamun confirmed the news.

The storyline takes place in 1971, on March 2, when the first map of Bangladesh was unveiled at a student gathering at Dhaka University’s Battala. The vice president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union, ASM Abdur Rab, hoisted the flag. On March 7, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman addressed the nation at the Race Course Ground. The speech also reached people throughout the country through radio. The film is about the contribution of radio to convey the message of the great liberation war in these seven days.

The shooting of the film was wrapped last year. The film casts Riaz, Zakia Bari Mamo, Lutfur Rahman George, Nader Chowdhury, and Pran Ray, among others, in pivotal roles. “Radio; also marks the first film of Riaz and Mamo, after a 15-year-long hiatus.
