‘Profound Presence’ underway at Kala Kendra

A photo exhibition by Wahiduzzaman Ratul titled ‘Muzharul Islam Profound Presence’ is currently underway at Kala Kendra in the capital. Along with the show, there was a book launch event too.

The opening ceremony took place at 6 pm on February 16 on the gallery premises, where Shamsul Wares was present.

The exhibition focuses on the architectural creations of Vastu-Guru Muzharul Islam. Muzharul Islam designed several buildings in exposed machine-made bricks, as-cast concrete, and traditional plastered surfaces painted white.

The architecture of Muzharul Islam has the capacity to affect our emotions and move our spirits. Presence is a quality that goes beyond the external forms and instead focuses on the principles that bring the building, its surroundings, and the human experience into harmony. The architecture of Muzharul Islam can evoke a meaningful emotional response and can move us internally because it has the ability to embody presence.

Muzharul Islam wanted to change the way people relate to a place and passionately endeavoured to build the new world that he aspired for our people. He created bold and sophisticated architecture with simple means and gradually established the foundation of modern architecture in Bangladesh for generations of architects to build upon.

The exhibition is open to all every day from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, till February 28.
