‘Shyamol Chhaya’ directed by Humayun Ahmed and Masud Hasan Ujjal’s directorial ‘Unoponchash Batash’ will be screened today at 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm respectively as a part of the on-going 3rd Bangladesh Film Festival. The screeching will take place at the National Art Gallery auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, as well as all 64 Shilpakala Academy branches in 64 districts.
Released on December 16, 2004, the film ‘Shyamol Chhaya’ focuses on a diverse group of characters as they make their way by boat, with the shadow of war constantly present in the background. As the journey progresses alongside the war, we see the character development of the passengers, as the war and their journey push them to their most extreme selves. The film casts Humayun Faridi, Challenger, Riaz, Monir Khan Shimul, Ahmed Rubel, Tania Ahmed, Meher Afroz Shaon and others.
Masud Hasan Ujjal’s directorial ‘Unoponchash Batash’ stars Sharlin Farzana and Imtiaz Barshon in lead roles. Released on October 23, 2020, the storyline of the film follows Nira, who is a Dhaka University student with a well-to-do family, as she falls in love with a man who is a sales representative of medicines. Despite his low educational qualifications and income, Nira starts to love him passionately. One day the man dies of cancer, and Nira gets mentally unhealthy, though she married him when he was admitted to the hospital. Nira goes under a delusion; she sees that her husband is coming alive from the graveyard.
The third Bangladesh Film Festival has begun on February 17 and will end on March 3. The film festival is open to all.
