The 3rd Bangladesh Film Festival will screen two films at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s National Art Gallery auditorium and all Shilpakala Academy branches in all 64 districts today.
The festival will screen Masud Pathik’s films ‘Maya: The Lost Mother’ and ‘Rupsha Nodir Banke’ directed by Tanvir Mokammel, at 4:00pm and 6:30pm respectively.
Released in 2019,’Maya: The Lost Mother’ revolves around the life and struggles of a Birangana. In this movie, popular actress Jyotika Jyoti played the role of Maya. Maya is the younger daughter of the Birangana. Noted actress Nargis Akter has played the role of Birangana. The movie also stars Pran Roy, Mumtaz Sorcar, Syed Hasan Imam, Shahadat Hossain Nipu, Jhuna Chowdhury, Nila Ferdous and others.
Ekushey Padak-winning filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel’s film ‘Rupsha Nodir Banke’ was released in 2020. The story of the film revolves around a leftist leader Manob Mukherjee, who was abducted and killed by Razakars during the Liberation War in 1971. Besides the liberation war, the film portrays different historical movements like Swadeshi movement, Tebhaga movement and other progressive movements. The cast of the government-granted film includes Tousif Sadman Turja, Zahid Hasan Shovon and Khairul Alam Sabuj, Ramnedu Majumdar, Chitralekha Guha, Jhuna Chowdhury, Afzal Kabir, Rajib Salehin, Abdullah Rana, Masum Bashar, Mili Basher and British actor Andrew Jones.
